January 2006 Archives

I was just mentioning to absolutely no one in particular that the Neue Heimat site had not been updated yet to reflect MasCon's "Neutrum" EP. You would think in this day and age a company of any kind would keep their site up to date, especially if they're hawking wares.

Well this time my foot was firmly inserted into my mouth. I see that MasCon's EP is now on the site and there is a NEW release up already as well. It's not even out yet! The Neue Heimat crew is on the ball now.

A few words from Cristian Vogel concerning Bill's new EP on Tresor...

As I noted a day or two ago the next Miditonal is going to be out extremely soon. Here's the complete packet of info on this badboy...

Due to problems with the internet and possibly terrorists (I wont bother actually checking for real facts) Cynthia Stern's label Input-Ouput has had to change it's place on the web.

Input-Output can now be reached at it's new address. Scurry on over and check out the info for the Jason Leach Ep about to come out. Listen to A1 and I bet you'll be hooked.

Last thursday Marco provided us all with a great 2 hour Bleep Radio show. Well today I got a bio and photo so I thought I'd toss them up for any of the curious 278 people that have downloaded his mix so far. And potentially millions(!!) of people who will download it in the near future.

Quick & Smart Live Sets

Back on the 15th of this month I mentioned two German artists. I had a set for Dj Mahatma but at that time the link on Quick 'n' Smart's site was broken.

I got in touch with Volker (Quick'n'Smart) and after a few typos we got everything sorted. Sorted enough to bring you two of his recorded Live Sets!

Quick'n'Smart - Live during Spring of 2004

Quick'n'Smart - Live September 2005

Here once again is Volker's website and discog's info page to check out: Home Page, Discogs Page.

I highly recommend these sets as well as any of Volker's releases. They're all right out there in left-field with clean sine bass lines and acid chirps mixed with some of the freakiest break beats you'll ever hear. At times hard, at times not so hard, always good. I promise.

This is for someone who wanted a variety of things all jammed together. They better enjoy it,two hours of my life was spent recording it.

New Release Nuggets

It's actually been fairly dry for the last week or two concerning new wax coming out. But, I've mananged to scrounge up a few that look promising. Because going more than a few days without a vinyl order is just wrong. Here is the quick and dirty new release listing. I'll do full postings about each record when more info is actually available.

Various Artists "Amplify The Force V4.0" Miditonal 7
The artists that are contributing tracks to Carsten's newest miditonal record have been confirmed and are; 3d!t, cannibal cooking club, queaver & versis, jens porath, oliver rosemann. There is no word on a release date yet so it'll be a matter of staying awake.

Frank Yentner "Der Blaue Engel" Mutter
I don't know many people who really dig Frank's stuff but I think it's great. Usually kinda subtle and dark with some nasty industrial slow-mo and bass. Very evil stuff but slowly building and hypnotic enough to trick you into a bit of a jig. Apparently his Album is done so I guess Mutter is just teasing at this point...I can't wait for this one!

Paul Birken "Storm Serge" Audio Textures 8
A1 Making Landfall
A2 What Ya Got
B1 Spitoon Platoon
B2 Making Landfall (Mark Hawkins Rmx)
I haven't even found any audio samples for this one yet, I only 'think' it's out already. Who the heck stocks Audio Textures??

Edit:
Aha!
thanks to an only slightly mysterious commenter....;) Mr. Hubbba is that your real name?

The Paul Birken wax can be previewed at audio-textures.com. Of course!

The Feinwerk 6 release party audio from Neil Landstrumm and Bill Youngman will not be available like I said yesterday. Don't ask me why. I know but chose not to say anything.

To make up for that I've found out through the magical internet that Dogma is cleaning out the cupboards.

Dogma Set List

A whole wack of good stuff there. Get them before they're gone!

Tonight's show was courtesy of MasCon. It was 2 hours of bleepy catcalls and broken beat bossa novas. Check out MasCon's sites and pillage them for other tasty audio bits...

MasCon, Klangnet, Antikonsum, Zinch

Then hike your butt back here and download the Archived set here

OK, here's the deal. This is the mpeg version of the previously posted Sugar Experiment Station live set video. It's huge. This file is bigger then Wayne Newton. So seriously don't start the download unless you know you can finish it.

SES HIGH QUALITY (770megs)

In lieu of Bill's new Tresor Ep -- release it already(!)-- here are a few of his past live sets that I favour. I picked my favorite set from each year 2002-2005 and tossed them online.

Bill Youngman @ Digital Gadget 2002
Bill Youngman @ Strasse E Dresden 2003
Bill Youngman @ Bass INvaders 2004
Bill Youngman @ Synchrotronic 2005

Electrostep (Bill's site)

Two of these sets also happen to be all around personal favorites. The Digital Gadget gets more listens than anything else I have here at home. I have one copy burned for the car and one for the house. Strasse E Dresden is another one that's pimpin, probably not the best sound qulaity but with the crowd going nuts at points it lends to the energy of the recording and you forgot about the nddly bits.

Almost there!

I had mentioned a few days ago that I switched webhosts. And I stick by that. Since I did. I'm just tossing out a brief update on the situation.

1. All the Fun in the murky and Bleep Radio audio has been restored and all links should be the same. If not please let me know so I can adjust them.

2. When I said all audio I of course didn't mean the Mixtape archive. It's been sync'ing all day long (14 hours now) and still has about that much left. Hey it's 60+hours of audio sorry my ISP isn't quicker.

3. To celebrate my new increase in bandwidth and storage I'll be making available for download the Sugar Experiment Station video in a MUCH higher resolution than was previously available. You can grab the high res version from here as well but it's a slow download. Give me until tomorrow and I think the high res should be completely on my server.

4. My new server has lots of new features for me to play with so I'll probably be rolling out little gewgaws here and there soon. Jabber server, Quicktime server, Mailing lists and other assorted goodies my old host didn't care to provide are now available so I may as well use them.

5. I don't usually announce who the next guest is for Bleep Radio but this week we'll make an exception and let you in on it (MasCon!).

6. Sometime in the next little bit there will also be some Artists, DJ's and record labels making the trek over to their new host (Fun in the Murky!) so keep your eyes and ears open for those announcements.

These isn't new but I know I've never mentioned it before. I apologize now for being so selfish. The people over at Little Detroit put these up quite a while back but I'm sure a lot of people missed them.

Plus many more in the Little Detroit Features section.

Siebenschlaefer, although I'm not quite certain what this guy's name translates to I'm sure it's something totally cool. It would have to, because, otherwise the really good Dj sets he has for offer on his site would be cheapened by it. .so I'll pretend I don't know what the 'Sieben' part means and the rest I don't have to pretend because I honestly don't know...

babbly babble blather and boil

the site....
Siebenschlaefer dig around, there's a bunch of mixes for you all.

I grew very tired of my service provider constantly going down despite the 99.9% uptime promise so last night I switched. My new provider gives me 4 times the amount of bandwidth and space so in theory this site can only get better. In theory.
So, bascially, right now I've got all the web files moved over, the database moved over and other little bits but the giant task of moving all the audio is starting now. it's like 15 gigs of dj sets so if you encounter an error while trying to download an audio file in the next 2-3 days that's why. Give it a bit of a breather and it'll reappear.

This is a live performance by Neil Landstrumm & Tobias Schmidt (as Sugar Experiment Station).

"Recorded at a very memorable night with John Peel at Maida Vale Studios , London.

Landstrumm and Schmidt feature in John Peels memoirs "margave of the marshes" as a favourite session of his.It was a Tresor Records showcase and the first live techno elctronics performance on his show. Sugar Experiment Station on a good day."

Avilable via Neil's site Scandinavia NYC (have a look around he has lots of goodies!) or by being a lazy slob and clicking this link

I just stumbled across Mark's current chart. Published online on The 18th, so it's pretty up to date..

I find it interesting to notice a few titles I know to be unreleased and as of yet unheard of. Zinch 2!? Glad to hear another Zinch is about to drop. I'll have to dig that up for you all.

As I posted 2 days ago, 2 posts ago. SES performed in Glasgow at Club Monox. Definitely check out the video if you haven't already. If all you're looking for is the audio fix though (shame on you) here it is...

Download SES Live at Monox

More SES from 1999 tomorrow. Neil and Toby on the John Peel show. Wait until tomorrow to grab it or scoop it now as I think Neil has it up already.

Ok, we have here an EP from an artist I'm not too familiar with. I've seen the name. I have at least one of Steph's tracks on a comp but other than that I know not much. That's going to have to change.

I'm not sure if Shed 3 is a repress or a release. I don't remember seeing it out before although the info has been floating around a long time now. I'm going to assume repress. For one reason only; Shed 5 is out already. I know the Shed crew would only release stuff in the correct order because to do otherwise would be pure insanity.

For lack of any new release info to be found I'm going to mention a few guys I like and think others should check out. In the past I've done label spotlights in similiar situations but this time I'm thinking an artist spotlight would sit well.

I'm actually going to mention two guys today. Dj Mahatma and Quick 'n' Smart. I'm going to mention these two guys together because they're brothers. Makes sense eh?

There's a Mahatma live DJ set floating around on my server somewhere so it'll be easy enough to check his stuff out (pretty hard and bangy but still jackin' as can be) Quick isn't as easy to share audio from. He has a link on his site but it's dead. I will get in touch with him and try to either get that fixed or host the darned thing for him.

Dizzy Funk

For those of you in or around Toronto I've become involved in a new night as a resident dork jockey (DJ). "Dizzy Funk" from what I know so far is a night completely filled with the old Hamilton crew of clods and goobers. Starting off with Ollie Barkovic of Steel City records and Probe and his old gang of dancefloor busters to some of the 2nd wave of steel city cretins (me!).

Anyway, everyone involved has a great taste in music, whether it be Detroit techno or Disco you'll only hear the best. No cover charge and good music every Saturday is good times in my books.

Forthcoming Maybe's?

I had previously mentioned that Jason Leach is about to rev up a new label called...something something or other. I forget now. It doesn't matter anyway as he has changed the name to "Death to Vinyl" and catalog number double ought one is already at the pressing plant. It'll be distributed via "Base Level Distribution" which is an offshoot of Just-Music. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for this deadly, deadly record.

Don't Records is also planning some big strikes soon. I don't know for sure what I'm allowed to share or not but I feel safe enough saying that if you look on the two rompus room ep's from a few months back you can count on some full ep's by a few of those artists. (ahem...tsr, edit, luke's anger) Again, just idle rumour at this point so don't hold me to it.

Don't Records No info here yet but check it out anyway damnit.

Show # 22 just aired...here's the archive bits.

ok, I'm back on duty. I moved into my new house this Monday so the past few days have had no new posts or goodies.

Today I have another chunk of audio from the Monox party in Feb. 2004. I think this is another attempt to placate the masses in regards to the SES video not being ready yet...A lot of people asking about that one. All I can say is hold your horses! When I have it you'll all know.

Download Aeox @ Monox

Holy Hell!

Cynthia Stern, everyone's favorite past Bleep Radio guest and head honcho over at Input-Output has put up samples for the next release. Jason Leach is definitely on point with this one. "A wicked mix of wobbly breaks and downtempo vocal workouts" is what I'd say to describe it...but mere words are not enough on this one.

Go to Input-Output right now and check out the samples. You must! This bad boy should be out at the end of the month so keep your eyes peeled.

I've got a two part live set from everyone's favorite meat eating duo. Cannibal Cooking Club at Children of the Night (Nov. 22, 2003)

New MasCon mix online

MasCon's partner in crime Anja has pointed out the fact that he has a pretty new mix available for download. He didn't supply a tracklist for it but Anja mentions, and I recognize, a bunch of top notch stuff from Neil Landstrumm, Beni, Antikonsum, Edit (Testing!), Aeox, Dibu-Z, Lief Ryan and others.

A new Dj mix from myself. It may be a few days or possibly longer before I'm able to do anything with this site as of Monday January 9th. I move into my new house and that will prevent me from having any free time for a little bit as you can imagine. Who knows I may be able to stray away from painting etc for brief bits but I don't want to count on it.

Hence the reason for this mix. I hope it's good enough to hold people over for a few days.

Aeox and Al.X.E have been very busy lately. It seems their output together and their seperate projects have increased 10 fold. That's a good thing, very good. This EP is dangerous goods. The A-side is going to cause spontaneous orgasms amongst the breast having listeners.

I've actually mentioned this ep before, but I think it had been delayed or something. Anyway, it's been forever since I first found out about it and it's finally out.

I would also like to point out that Ed was commissioned to write an intro and outro for Bleep Radio. No word on when he'll be finished for us but keep your ears peeled and you'll hear it evenutally.

Adam X is offering up an edited video of his recent live performance at Pyramid NYC. I haven't had time to watch it yet, but things like this and the SES and Aeox are always fun to watch.

I have a 3 minute preview of Sugar Experiment Station's recent live show at Monox in Glasgow. With a full-length version coming once it's completed. I also have a 37 minute video clip of Aeox playing at a Monox party back in February of 2004.

It's taking me forever to upload these clips as they're huge so I thought I'd wet appetites now in anticipation and post the link once they're ready.

Thanks go out to Gerald Moore for supplying the goods. Monox!

Bill Youngman's EP on Tresor is finally about to pop. Ever since the Illumination Compilation came out on Tresor I've heard and read rumours that Bill was going to release an EP. I finally got an announcement of sorts. It's a different title than what I heard last year...but who gives a flip; it's a new Bill Youngman record! More information and an interview with Bill after the jump...

Framework Mark II

A while back I had mentioned that Framework Music, Bob Brown's record label, was going the way of the Dodo. Fortunately he has found someone to take control and will be passing it on.

Nico Stoli, of The Aphorism will be taking hold of the reins and heading off in hopefully the same great direction Bob was heading.

Bob has extended the sale he was having of back stock and the list of what can be bought (for the price of shipping only!) can still be found at frameworkmusic.com/.

Despite the fact Paul's website is far from being up to date I've found out about this little gem.
