January 2007 Archives

This is CCC's second "Recooked" Ep. Featuring remixes from a different crew of Techno gangsters this time, but still distinctly Cannibal Cooking Club.

The newest Antikonsum record featuring BeNi and tafkatafta (formerly al.X.e) is due out next month sometime. This being the last day of January means it should drop in about 2-3 weeks. Look for it at Humpty-Stuttgart,Deejay.de or Possible Music.

Lots of chi-town bump and older acid ish to keep the ears happy!

While the event itself is over and you can't go. You can most certainly listen to the recording! Once again for the 2nd year in a row I've been supplied the SES set from their Monox performance. I have word there is even a bit of video again this year. No word on how much, but It'll be passed on once I get it.

S.E.S. Live @ Monox (January 20th, 2007): Download

I'll dig around a bit and ask the really tough questions until I find out whether or not any other sets were recorded. I bet Lusinda jammed it real good too.

When I first started going out to party's Cari was one of my favorite dj's. When I started buying records Cari was one of my favorite producers. I still have all that old stuff sitting around doing nothing, it was only a matter of time before they were used.

Cari Lekebusch Tribute Part 1 of 2
Extended Tracklist:

00 -Mr. James Barth "Tight As Can Be" Trainspotter's Nightmare 13 [One Side Each EP 1997]
I never quite understood why Cari used his Barth moniker for this EP. It's nothing at all like every other Barth track. What I do understand is that regardless of the name he used for this Ep it's a badass record. Rough and tough chicagoan business from both Cari and Steve Poindexter. Not many people seem to even know about this label of Cari's. Shame, there were a handful of excellent EPs on it.
Discog's Link w/ More Infomation

01 - Mr. Barth & The Persuader "Untitled" Svek 16 [Snorkelmannen O Hans Vanner EP 1997]
An early Barth record and I think it shows. All the future Barth's after this EP were much cleaner sounding. This one, being rough around the edges, still has the feel to it that I think Cari used the Barth moniker for...But I think of this EP as a trial run towards the goods.
Discog's Link w/ More Infomation

02 - A.D.C.L. "Jolt" Railyard Records 03 [The Shadow Boxers Round 2 EP 2006]
A newer Ep from the dynamic duo. Alexi and Cari have often collaborated in the past and seem to still know how to work together well enough to knock out the odd gem. Mind you it aint anything of their Pump Panel caliber...
Discog's Link w/ More Infomation

03 - Bob Brewthbaker "Need This" Plumphouse 31 [Songs From Abroad EP 1998]
This was my one boo-boo. This is an alias of Alexi Delano's. Still it totally sounds like it could be a James barth record which is probably why I grabbed it from the shelf thinking it was Cari at the time. Duh.
Discog's Link w/ More Infomation

04 - Cari Lekebusch "Reverted" Hybrid 1204 [Reverted/Aterkommen EP 1997]
Classic joint from early Hybrid. "Stop Fighting - Start Uniting" This is probably one of my favorite Lekebusch tunes. partly because of it's weird yet catchy sequencing and partly because I f&*kin' raved hard to this tune back in the past!
Discog's Link w/ More Infomation

05 - Mr. James Barth "Straight' Barth Stripped" Svek 33 [Remixed For The Lords EP 1999]
Just another quality Svek release! Not many to be found anymore I find though...
Discog's Link w/ More Infomation

06 - Cari Lekebusch "Skarume Max Peezay" Kaun Trax 05 [Understanding Of Nothing EP 2006]
As far as I know this is the newest record Cari has put out as of this show's air date. It's the first Kaun Trax EP to have a slightly different feel to it which is good. What it does remind me of is the Stockago Ep which is excellent.
Discog's Link w/ More Infomation

07 - Puente Latino "Takes U There" Primevil 03 [Coming Back EP 1998]
Another classic joint with seemingly odd or just non-standard track format. One of the reasons it'll always stay at the top of the pile. A little extra work put in while making something keeps it around that much longer. Also a good exmaple of early primevil....you know...before it went all sucky.
Discog's Link w/ More Infomation

08 - Cristian Vogel "Never Too Late (Cari Lekebusch Remix)" Primevil 01 [Two Fat Downloads EP 1997]
This is the direction I had hope Primevil was going to continue with. The Cristian Vogel original track is deadly and the track I bought the EP for. it turns out that when I got home and gave the rest of the EP a solid listen I relaized the Lekebusch remix is off the charts! The vocal in this kicks my ass still.
Discog's Link w/ More Infomation

09 - Cari Lekebusch "Omslaget Motiverat" Hybrid 1203 [Vet Dom Som For Att LP 1998]
My personal top of the list Cari track. Amongst my friends it's known as the "Bwammmmmmmmm" track. The hats and cymbals that slide of each other like lump free gravy followed by that wicked synth riff that kicks in around the 2/3 mark....Damn.
Discog's Link w/ More Infomation

10 - The Pump Panel "To The Sky" Missile 09 [To The Sky Remix EP 1998]
Pump Panel had a bit of a rotating line-up behind it, but this EP was Alexi and Cari. The flip side has a Fred remix which is Cari by himself I do believe. The original is much better than Cari's solo effort. This time anyway. Very similiar in feel and production style I find to Dave Clarke's Red Series...ya? no? I think so. Probably better though. "To The Sky!"
Discog's Link w/ More Infomation

11 - The Advent "Overseeya (Cari Lekebusch Remix)" Internal LP08 [Shaded Elementz LP 1996]
This track is just another one of Cari's drum kit rhythm tracks. Even though that's "all" it really is it's still better than what a lot of current producers would call a song. The melodic bits near the end are ear pleasers for sure.
Discog's Link w/ More Infomation

12 - Mystic Letter K "Caprilectro" Eletrix 05 [Caprilectro EP 2001]
One of the things I've always appreciated about Cari is his appreciation of the "other" genres out there. A lot of big names stick to their pigeon hole until the current fad changes. Cari has always done a bit of everything and for that he gets props. Yo! I don't think I've ever heard a bad electro track out of him, I'm so picky with the stuff that in itself makes me feel warm and fuzzy.
Discog's Link w/ More Infomation

13 - Mr. James Barth "Live Feelin's" Svek LP01 [Stealin Music LP 1998]
This SONG is what I feel is what the Mr. James Barth alias was driving towards. Whether Cari knows it or not. I've always felt this LP to be gold and this song in particular to be the pinnacle of all that is Barth. Dare tell me I'm wrong?
Discog's Link w/ More Infomation

14 - Cari Lekebusch "Deepest Thought" 430 West LP02 [Detroit Calling LP 2001]
I didn't even notice Cari's track on this double for quite some time. To be honest its not one of his best, but I still find it catches my ear for some reason. Rather than think about it...I'll just move on.
Discog's Link w/ More Infomation

15 - Cari Lekebusch "Fusion" Loop 22 [Untitled EP 1995]
Bloop Bloop! I love when Cari gets these bleepy drum kit workouts going. Layered snares and those crisp hats of his mixed with the acid chirps are enough to make me giggle like a schoolgirl. If you like this track I also recommend his Yakari work...
Discog's Link w/ More Infomation

16 - Fred 2 "Monoflight" Missile LP02 [Launches 2 LP 2000]
Fred seems to be the name Cari adopted when putting material out on the North American Chicago/Mid-West acid influenced labels. It's all quite good. Some longer head trips like this one and some more hectic electro and tracky shenanigans as well. All Fred is good Fred.

Samklang "Torkild" Snork 03
A - Micropuls [ listen ]
B - Blau [ listen ]

Release Date: February 2007
Distributor :www.discomania.com
Snork / Feinwerk Web-Site

Christian Says:
he third Snork Enterprises follows the ruel of groovy dancfloor music on Snork Enterprises.
The so called “Torkild e.p.” offers you two great tracks which you could compare a bit with
The Border Community Records Style, a mixture between groovy progressive techhouse beats
With parts of nice melodic melancholic bass and synthlines. The Micropuls is a strong
Progressive 4 to the floor rocker and the Blau tracks is a bit more emotional supported by
Dirk Wisslers (aka Joschka Truemmer ) Vocals.
The producer Team Samklang aka Gernot Lange, Yves Adolf and Dirk Wissler from the Gainstorm
Studio in Freiburg had also some nice Tracks on Ware records in the past, but these two track
differ much from them with their progressive emotional style.
This record will be much more than the most standard material which exists already in the
dj´s cases, much more for the prime time on the floor, or better, the record
You play at 7 o´clock in the morning.

Here's a lofi teaser of of a track from the next Tonewrecker EP [Various "In Da Pocket EP" Tonewrecker 13]. It's a various artists "remix" Ep of sorts. Each artist is given the following phrase...

"I'm in the pocket
Got my game in check
machines locked down
and a system to wreck"

..and basically told to run with it, from what I gather. Paul has finished his track and it's quite a shocker. It's full of edits with an oddball swing. I don't quite think I've heard another track quite like it. I have one old Tobias Schmidt record that comes close, but it's not quite this good. Aces!

The remaing three tracks on the Ep will be supplied by:
Cannibal Cooking Club
Miro Pajik
TJR

I don't know if Paul is going to release teasers for the rest of them as they come in, but if so I'll be sure to keep y'all up to date. Wall to wall and Tree-top tall brotha's.

Fun in the Murky Says:
Chicago House and Detroit Techno are originally what lured me into my now overwhelming music collecting and playing habits. This is an excellent example of the classic chi-town that is capable of hooking anyone if it's given a fair shot. I'm a bigger fan of the first half, but the whole thing has gold strung throughout. Excellent music to throw on and listen to while bopping around your house on a weekend.

Nexus6 Says:
"If you’ve puchased in time the “Last Starfighter EP”, then you know. You know what is able the Chan ‘N’ Mike mastermind. You know also how much its music can be rough and mad. With “Blackpool Rock EP”, Michael Forshaw (Bernard's Haircut, Semi Automatic, Miditonal) strikes back on SMB label, delivering a four tracker of an equal quality and consolidating its malefic reputation of Glasgow sorcerer. The A side starts at top speed with “Ronnie ‘N’ Ragga”, a monstrous gabber-techno incantation a la Final Exposure (Plus 8) based on a higher bid of distortions and violent breaks. Combining 4/4 rhythm and hip hop reminiscences, tense “Roflmao” keeps on with an impossible to mix cut made of bewitching claps, bubbling tonalities, dark vocoder and astonishing conjuring tricks. After such a brainwashing in the form of enchantment, will you still dare to experiment the B-side? “Septic Elbows” serves on the flip a powerful noisy electro, laying the stress on occult saturations, industrial melodies and impressive decelerations of tempo. At last, “Klamz Of Westworld” turns into a frantic hip hop marrying funky scratches, Cheerleaders lyrics and kick taken from Octagon Man’s repertory. Fully completed on both sides by two bonus extracted from “Roflmao”, Michael Forshaw’s new 12’’ will offer enough analogical strings and rockin’ beats to exorcise any dancefloor. Undoubtedly the richest, smokiest and hardest release on SMB."

Silesian Damage Crew

I don't really know what to say about them. I don't live in or near Poland which is where they are based. I've never seen any of them play Live or even talked to anyone that's mentioned them. What I do know is that I recognize their names from our little "Wonky Community" here on the web. Via various message boards and other sites I've seen their individual names pop up here and there. From what I can tell they're heavily into Older Brighton Techno and the related bits that go with that, plus the newer, perhaps less subtle stuff that gets lumped into the oddball Techno categories. these days.

Anyway, I like the tunes they like, they like some of the tunes I like...So I told them I'd share their mixes around. I haven't had a chance to listen to all of them yet, but the tracklists look pretty good. Heavy on the floor shakers and light on the Cheese (there is none!)

Rokken - Live

Paul Birken recently performed a Live-Set under the Rokken moniker. Rokken is usually, or rather has been in the past both Paul and Scott Radke, but not this time around. I forgot to ask why so just make up any ol' reason and repeat it until it's true.

Anyway, here's the recording for download. It was recorded live @ the Dinkytowner in Minneapolis January 12th, 2007 and is Paul Birken alone performing as Rokken.

Norman & Syntax Error "Pussy Flörborner Remixes" Feinwerk 12
A1 - Norman Remix [ listen ]
B1 - Syntax Error Remix [ listen ]

Release Date: February 2007
Distributed by: Discomania | Contact
Feinwerk

Feinwerk Says:
This record is a two tracker remix vinyl of the successful Pussy Flörborner track of FEINWERK´s first release, the “sometimes it´s only rubbish e.p.” from Syntax Error. Side A provided by Norman´s remix. Norman had the very cool successful FEINWERK 8 release, called “Yellow Dummyprotector e.p.”, which is in the Wonky groovy Stammheim crackle style. His remix continues the great music of his FEINWERK e.p., we hope you know the yellow one ;)
Side B is Syntax Error´s side, with a slower groovy progressive techno track, this time, not so typical for Syntax Error because it´s really bassline reduced. But this gives the track a great dancefloor character and makes it much more playable for more cool dj-rockers. Though, this track has the typical Syntax Error influences, but in his new changed style. Check this record out and let us know if it is a next follow up for Norman´s killer records. Have fun!

Fun in the Murky Says:
Ever since Norman's Yellow Dummy Protector Ep on Feinwerk I've had my eye out for other stuff of his. This is definitely a more laidback track than anything off that EP, but it still has that bounce to it. Syntax Error sounds like he's relaxed a bit. his track has a more subtle groove to it than his previous stuff. Sounds like it might be a fun one to double up.

Spacebar Sentiments

Veto Says:
Spacebar Sentiments slaps-down the 2nd release of the new "Spacebar Superstars" series with four of the most monolithic, and undeniably deadly tracks the label has released to date, and judging from their history so far, that is indeed saying a lot!! Brand new artist to the Spacebar roster "Skeetaz", aka Bil Bless (SOTEG/The Disciple Grin/Bless Records) and James Watts (KiloWatts) gives two of the most freakishly psychedelic, gutteral, and maddening electronic dance tunes that Spacebar has released. Blending electro, psy, glitch, dubstep and breakbeat, "Skeeters" and "One Twenty" are both going to find permanent homes in dj crates across the galaxy. The flip-side to this bold release features "c.mantle" , who lands two tracks of distorted, intricate, heavy, and epic electrostep weirdness, juxtaposed around rapid-fire, precision drum programming, helping to possibly make this the Spacebar camp's heaviest offering from the catalog. Both of these new artists on "Spacebar Superstars Vol.2" have delivered mind-bending material that is going to smoke the dirtiest, up-for-it dancefloors with the kind of sludgy, tilted and freaked-out future-electro we all crave. Delivered in both black, and blue & white marbled vinyl, accompanied by new design and sleeve by the wackos at Nest.de. Gzzzzzzt!!

After #46, which was a Chicago themed mix, I had a request from a friend to do a Detroit mix. This is that. I was never really a fan of the mainstream D. The strings and all that "soulful" stuff. Really I found the majority of it quite boring. I like a bit of jack in my breakfast cereal please and thank you. So while this mix is all related to Detroit in some way or another (directly or indirectly) it's the side of Detroit that was over looked. The bleep is what first caught my ear. I was a diehard who became disillusioned and moved on. Here's a tribute.

Playlist:

01 - DBX "Spock's Brain" Accelerate 102 [I'm Losing Control EP 1994]
A B-side to the track of Dan's that EVERY either knows or should smack their forehead for not knowing. Losing Control unfairly got all the press while goodies like this sat on the other side being ignored by most.

02 - Run Stop Restore "Gateways And Galaxies" Minus 25 [Minimize To Maximize LP 2005]
The newer "minimal" has too dry a mix for my tastes generally. This song included, I think the thing about it that gets my attention is it's forward momentum and of course it's bleeps. I'm a sucker for a good blip and or bleep. I think this is only 1-2 of all the songs on this 3x12" that I would even think about touching. Like I said, the majority of it can take a long walk off a short pier. It's releases like this that --to me-- justify digital stores. It'll show labels that a lot of their crap is just that in the long run. You just watch what tracks get consistent sales and not just a rush when it drops.

03 - Studio 1 "Untitled" Studio 1 [Rosa EP 1996]
The infamous Studio 1 series. Not unlike the Concept series Hawtin did. I have ahard time deciding if I like one series over the other. Both are killer. I think the Studio 1 series owns the danceable end of the spectrum while Concept takes you for the ride. No more justifying anything today, I don't want to press my luck.

04 - DBX "I'm Losing Control" Accelerate 102 [I'm Losing Control EP 1994]
Okay, I had to play it as well! I can't help it....sure it overshadowed so many other TIGHT dbx tracks, but damn it used to make my head turn to mush when I heard it loud and boom heavy.

05 - Todd Sines "Awk" Residual 09 [Static EP 2000]
Here's where the trouble starts...Todd. Mr. Sines. .xtrak.cron. He is all and more! Daniel Bell's dbx alias got tons of mention and yes he was very good, but I always thought Todd's stuff had more juice to it. It had that certain kick to it that made it friendly to people with busy feet and to top it off it was easy on the ears as well. Too bad he doesn't bleep like he used to.

06 - Stewart Walker "Amateur Surrealism" Matrix 06 [Stoic EP 1998]
An early Stweart Walker record. I think I remember reading an interview with Stweart years ago and he mentioned that this EP was his attempt at the dbx (and todd sines!) styled tracks. It worked to a degree, but it lacked something...I'm not sure what, but it's definitely not on the same level. Go ahead and A-B it. you'll see.

07 - Unknown "Untitled" Blue Train 08 [Factory Dubs EP 2000]
Some random Maurizio wannabe basically. I don't know anything about it, I just found it in the local record shop the day it came out. Apparently people want it now though as I get emails every once in a while asking for it. Despite it being nothing new over the M Series it is good. It definitely holds it's own on both sides. I find I even enjoy it a bit more than about half of the M Series catalog.

08 - Savvas Ysatis "Bull Walk" Tresor 171 [Select LP 2001]
This guy seems to hide in dark recesses of where ever it is he's from for long periods, only to pop out now and then to drop an albums worth of material. It's pretty groovin stuff mostly. Almost all of it is very stripped down, but he always keeps the bump and funk alive. I think I prefer his Highrise LP better than this one, but as luck would have it it was difficult to dig out. Heck I still haven't located it in the shelves.

09 - R Tyme "R Theme (Mayday Mix)" Loaded 02 [Subversion EP 2000]
R Tyme was D-Wynn and Derrick May. It's HEAVY on the Detroit feel. Orchestral amounts of strings and Diva amounts of soul. By the way...whatever the hell happened to D-Wynn? This reminds me I haven't seen or heard his name in years!

10 - Jake Mandell "The Prince And The Palm" Carpark 08 [Love Songs For Machines LP 2000]
Ok, so perhaps this isn't a "Detroit Techno" track that I've slipped into the middle of my Detroit Themed mix. I say lighten up girlscout, Detroit wasn't about certain artists or label. It was about music with a certain feel, futuristic and soulful, but still able to rock your ass off. Jake does it, therefore Jake is D-Town. Suck it up, the guy rocks.

11 - Cabanne "Can't Stand" 7th City 18 [Can't Stand EP 2001]
Daniel Bell's label has a fairly broad range of stuff on it. It took a turn towards the clicky, glitchy side of minimal/tech-house at some point though. Don't get me wrong I enjoy it if it's done well, but I think the earlier releases had a bit more vareity to them. It would seem to me like Quality control in all it's subjective glory has been lacking - relatively - compared to the first half of the catalog.

12 - Dj Valium "Running In October" Teknotika 15 [Dj Valuim EP 1996]
This old beat up piece of crap is in the midst of a love/hate relationship with me right now. The music on this disc rocks, but it's got a bad habit of skipping on me and just generally being a pain to mix. If I could find a visible scratch or defect on it I could at least focus my rage. I'm not really a fan of Valium's other stuff, but this ep has the goods. Both mixes of "Running..." are wicked as are the other two tracks. Definitely one to look out for or just play more often if you already have it.

13 - Stephen Brown "I Am Someone" Transmat 27 [EP #2 2002]
When I found out Stephen Brown was about to drop a few EPs on Transmat I was thrilled. I was hoping he'd do some sort of hybrid Detroit/Brighton type thing like some of his other releases. I thought to myself that maybe someone had finally noticed the similarities! But not. He just ended up doing some Stereotyped D. I call it that yet I still bought it. So I guess it's sitting on the better half of the D Stereotype Spectrum. Maybe I was just feeling generous that week.

14 - Kit Clayton "Nothing But Nothing" 7th City 09 [New Horizons EP 1999]
One of my favorite 7th City's. This Ep is what 7th City should have stuck with. Variety and knowing what's what.

15 - Plastikman "Elektrostatik" Novamute 25 [Krakpot EP 1993]
cccccccccclassic! When Richie was still doing it proper. If I say more it'll turn into a rant so I cut myself off HERE.

16 - Dwarf "Percussion Electrique" Accelerate 02 [The Silicon Ghetto EP Volume 2 1993]
Daniel Bell's Accelerate imprint which ended up being a vehicle for re-releasing his Peacefrog stuff was originally something with big ideas behind it. The Silicon Ghetto series were 3 various artist EPs and they were all great. Some DBX tracks under that name and others, plus stuff from Richie and Speedy J to name a few others. Back from the bang, bang, thud, distort and crackle drum kit days of Probe and early Plus 8. Man alive!

17 - Rob Hood "Explain The Style" Metroplex 25 [The Vision EP 1996]
Quite definitely a highlight of Robert Hood's output. I feel it trumps almost everything else he's done. Yes, including the two albums that everyone goes on about being definitive. Sure he had other ground breaking at the time releases, but this is the one that will still be played AND ENJOYED by others for years to come. I doubt it'll ever sound dated.

18 - KSR "Headrush (Octave One Mix)" 430 West 505 [Down From The Sky EP 2002]
To be honest I don't really know much about KSR or the remixers. I know the bare minimum to get by. I know which are their good records and which ones I don't like. The rest has been lost to my frustration with the decline of D. D-ecline. Seriously.

19 - Dirk Jones "Simple Mind" Slavery 2000 01 [What Would Dirk Do EP 2001]
Dirk old boy needs a high five. he only put out a few Ep's, but they were killer. This one espcieally. This is probably the worst song on the EP and it's bang on. There's a jazzy bass heavy number on the flip side that I'd probably hurt myself to if I ever heard anyone play it. Jay Denham should have kept this sub label of Black Nation alive...hell it'd be nice if Black Nation could return to it's glory days.

20 - Dj T-1000 "Sexy Little Homewrecker" Pure Sonik 11 [Codes And Structures Volume One EP 1999]
Alan Oldham, the artist behind all the Djax label art and minimal loop blaster. If you're in a mood that requires a mindless beat thrashing this guy was always the one to turn to. Unfortunately like so many other of my old Detroit staples, I'm not really diggin what he does anymore. I guess I'm not in that mindless beat thrashing state that often anymore.

21 - Punisher "Mechanism" Reload 992103 [Mechanism EP 1998]
Punisher really knew what rhythm was about. She had so many tracks with some of the craziest drum programming you've ever heard. A rarity in this "genre" and definitely had her own style. I don't know if she kept up with it, as I've not heard anything of hers in years. Once again sadly out of touch. Ah Disillusionment how I adore thee.

22 - Punisher "Unknown" Seismic/White 001 [Extinction EP 1999]
See above for my sentiments. Although this one was the first on her own label and got a lot of cross genre play from what I remember.

23 - Lil Louis "Blackout" FFRR reesp01 [Blackout EP 1989]
Not really Detroit by any relation other than it being a f&^king wicked tune that EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE has played at one point. Detroit, Chicago, Sweden, probably Egypt. Classic house tune that rocks even at it's --now considered-- slower tempo.

Eon "Component X EP" [K]rack-troni[k] 13
A1 - Texas flex [ listen ]
B1 - Non doctor [ listen ]
B2 - I live! [ listen ]

Release Date: January 22nd 2007
Distributed by: Veto UK
[K]rack-troni[k]

Veto Says:
So where do you start when you are talking about an artist of the calibre and longevity of Eon (aka Ian Loveday)? Well, you could start by saying that his early hits, such as 'Spice', 'Basket case', 'What is music?' were massive anthems, not only for us here at Kracktronik central, but also to just about anyone into dance music in the 90s, with crossover appeal to hardcore ravers, house-heads, breaks buffs, and techno freaks. More recently, his work with Peter 'Baby' Ford has been picked up by DJs across the board, including Richie Hawtin (who included 'Dead Eye' on his infamous 'Decks, EFX + 909' release and 'Transitions' CD/DVD). But this is not the time to bask in past glories (many as they are), but rather to look to the three awesome productions he has pulled out of the bag for Kracktronik's 13th release (unlucky for some, but evidently not for us!). Previously available as part of his download only 'DeVice' album, but here re-edited and remastered specifically for the vinyl release, these are three prime cuts with Eon's distinctive production style stamped all over them. 'Texas flex' is what you might imagine 'White Lines' would sound like if it was written in the future by a smiley-faced robot , with twisting acid bass throbs and a crisp floor-slaying groove. Cut good and loud at 45rpm for a truly mind-bending experience! 'Non doctor' and 'I live!' keep up the pressure on the flip side with swooping delays and eerie strings being the order of the day, alongside Eons' trademark tough electro breaks. A welcome vinyl return for Mr Loveday, and a killer start to 2007 for Kracktronik, promising a year with much to offer…

It's been a while since Jerome has had a live mix recorded.Tis a shame to make us all wait so long between bleeps.

This is the "Tracklist" that I -- with some help from Jerome -- cooked up. The rest has been lost...

*edit*We've had a few more tracks pop out of the hazy, murky depths of time!

Jerome can't remember playing at any party entitled Mecanos, but he judges this to be an older mix (2001-ish). He'd also really appreciate it if anyone knows what the last two ids are ;)

I know Mark is pretty stoked about this record. It's something he's been keeping in reserve for just the right label. Apparently a decision has been made! I'll do a full post on this EP later when I've gotten the audio clips and graphics from the gents in charge.

Fun in the Murky Says:
If you're looking for something near the harder end of the spectrum, but not so different that it wont fit in with whatever else you've got than these are a good place to start. I find each EP has 1-2 tracks that I can't leave alone. They're not your dull lifeless Techno records; very tweaked out bass funk with screaming (crying?) synths running out of control throughout. I don't have samples of these ones, but here's a link to them at their distributor's site: Kugelbox 2,3 and 4. The only thing missing with the represses is the coloured vinyl...black still sounds ok though ;).

Fun in the Murky Says:
It's the quaker that started it all, repressed in it's lo-fi bleepy glory. These tracks are raw, tough on the body and lots of fun. The downright reckless amounts of distorted bass and unadulterated fun will be enough to hook you and make you await the next new Miditonal (a limited EP I hear).

Some chap using the alias Questionable posted this to the Basterdized Forum. I like it so much I feel the need to spread it further.

Fun in the Murky Says:
I've almost always been a sucker for Cari's stuff. There was a dry spell in the 99-04 era. But with the beginning of his Kaun Trax label a while back and the re-releases he's done of his older Hybrid records; I've been happy as a pig in sh!t.

There isn't too much Techno of this sort I bother buying anymore, but as always I find his sense of rhythm and timing hypnotic.

The Kaun Trax label hasn't exactly broken any barriers down. All of Cari's releases on it are good, but he hasn't tried anything new yet. This record is perhaps a little closer to his earlier Mr. Barth meets old Hybrid. So it looks like he is going to -- maybeperhapsihope -- rock us with corker soon.

Here's another of my 'Influences' posts. I believe this is my third one, with each of them relating to Chicago in some way. Can you tell my early tastes were formed by Chicago house and Techno? Yeah, thought so.

I've really only heard two people play this record -- that I can recall. We all know about the A1 (Eye Trip) from Richie Hawtin's Mixmag CD. Which we all also know is a fantastic CD. Trackwise anyway. The only other person I've heard play this record is Neil Landstrumm. The tracks A2 (Breakdown) and B2 (Black Widow) being the ones he seemed to dig. I think it was his last Toronto appearance at an F.T.W.K. party I got to hear them.

That makes it 5-6 years (at least) since I've heard this played out by someone else. It's too good a record to die out so let's refresh our memories or aid a discovery and give Akilah Bryant -- and Co-Produced by Dj Skull -- kudos for a great record.

Old Djax....mmm
