Pop lockin' organ funk, skittish break beats and dark soundscapes sum this one up in a mild and meek fashion. It's not a new release by any means, but it's a another addition to the Fun in the Murky archives. If you don't have it yet, hunt 'er down and reap the benefits.

The Donk Boys are back with another new EP of their jackin' bleep tracks. They tell me this one was originally supposed to have been out in early 20008, but has suffered a series of delays. How unfortunate we've had to wait this long for this stew of sine wave bass lines, lo fi hats and acidic bleeps.

I'm going to toss a little nugget of info out i the open here that probably should be known. I don't like Tim Wright's stuff. I know he has a big fan base and lots of his stuff is hard to find and a lot of people want it and all that jazz, but I've never been able to get into more than 1-2 of his releases. This one is no different. But, and this is a big but...the Tobias Schmidt remix turns this EP into a gem. I'm actually excited with the thought of being able to play this track out. If you liked his work on the Feinwerk EP with him and Landstrumm then you'll dig this one. Top notch and worth grabbing the EP for.

The latest entry in the Bass Gun catalog, courtesy of Sol Dat, is a acid burbling, sliced break with a dark theme running throughout via a filtered bassline. I find the original a touch too linear. It could be well used mid-way through a set and it would keep a night running well, however, it lacks that final bump to make it a recognizable song.

The Dj Cutlass Supreme remix I was very fond of, with the bassline that reminded me Digitek on Twilight 76 and the laid back bounce it seemed to demand of it's listener. It could definitely be enjoyed in the car on the way to work or on the floor in front of a stack of bins.

The Mazzula remix is a good example of taking the source and re-creating something with it. It doesn't bear much similarity to the original track other than the bassline which has some accompaniment now. It builds itself up in energy solidly through it's length and again it has the quality that allows for home and club enjoyment.

I'm usually a fan of Teutonic's stuff, but this one kinda left me feeling unsatisfied.I think in this case it was the additional bassline that was added into the mix. I've never been a huge fan of those old 90's speed garage basslines and this one just seems to remind me of that too much I think.

I first heard Barry Weaver in Toronto at a New Year's eve party back in the 90's and the double tape that resulted from that set has always and will always be one of my favorites. I've even got it ripped in my Toronto mix-tape archive. Barry seems to be fully capable of delivering the goods when it comes to techno and Old School House. It's a shame he's not out there spreading it more than he does.

There was a partial tracklist supplied, but it was short quite a bit. This listing isn't in order and has large gaps that I couldn't ID. You get the gist of it though. Lots of good old acid all strung together in the appropriate fashion.

You can thank LDJM over at Livesets and his own Blog for calling attention to this slice of goodness.

I stumbled across Martin a few weeks back ad have since then discovered I liked both of the releases he has under his belt so far. When it comes to the Detroit sound we both seem to be on the same or at least a similar wave length so I offered him a Bleep spot. This is the result of that offer.

There's an old Teknotika record that I like to lug out every couple of months by a fella that used to go by the spelling Dj Valium. That's not the only record by this guy that's good by any means though and recently I've had the pleasure of meeting him.

With releases on Re-Load, Teknotika, Drought, KK Traxx, Gigolo, Drop Bass and Iron Oxide to name a few; I'm sure some of you have heard of him and more than likely have some of his stuff.

I do recommend checking him out where ever it is you do your music buyin' as he's a pretty talented guy with a load of variety under his belt.

I also recommend checking out his small video collection on his Youtube channel. He's got clips dating back to the early 90's of both himself and others. One notable is Jeff Mills' first Dj Set in Belgium. Some fun watching to be had and trainspotting to enjoy..

Yes, it's finally time to release the first KMPLX ACID compilation. We've got some badass people with us this time. Simons Acid Breakfast is first out with a wicked acid breakbeat track. Singing in the brain backed up by the PH1 Axid Crew! Oerfil with his retarded 666 bpm tracks. T.S.R. makes sure we know what the term "DIRTY FUCKING ACID" means. Marcus Ihlar seduces your brain with maximal synthesizer techno.

Now if the only reason you download this digital EP is for the TSR and Simons Acid Breakfast tracks then it's still reason enough. Admittedly the track that was recommended to me by the fella who told me about the EP was my least favorite, but it was made up for with the rest of it's first class acid weeping and bleeping.

The project aptly titled Sixty-Four represents an exciting phase in Marc Houle's production cycle with most of the year having been spent testing ideas for his album. As a result, these twelve tracks were only ever meant to represent 'work in progress', functioning primarily as DJ tools for Magda, Troy Pierce and Richie Hawtin over the summer with Marc also performing them live on the road and during the Contakt shows. However, exactly because of their 'in-between' nature, their inherent quirkiness and route one approach the crowds have really taken to them and other DJs have been desperate to get their hands on them. To satisfy demand, Minus has put together this very special series of digital releases for August, before a double pack 12" hits the shops in September featuring seven carefully selected tracks.

My thoughts on this are entirely different of course. I agree with the 'work in progress' feeling of these tracks, but as far as exciting phases, demands and inherent quirkiness goes...

What I found when I listened to these was that there was 7 tracks that wanted to be like old dbx or .XTrak jack tracks. Ok maybe not exactly like them. Minus has their whole really stripped down and basic thing going on that even an .XTrak track might sound out of place in, but a series of tracky bleeps is what it was. Now if there is anyone out there who loves their tracky bleeps as much as I do I would like to meet this person. I love my tracky bleeps and I can tell when I'm being faked. Out of the 7 tracks on this 2x12" I would say 2, maybe 3 of them I thoroughly enjoyed and the rest were disposable. So I bought it. I do have my doubts though.

These 'tracky bleeps' are straddling the border between being a great DJ Tool and being a boring slowly changing and evolving proggy track that happens to have some bleeps in it. The loops are just complex enough and have enough call and response going on to make them feel interesting (well 3 out of 7 of them!), but whether or not that will hold up once I have it and can hear tracks in their entirety remains to be seen. Consider this a tentative recommendation because labeling something as a DJ Tool doesn't give it the right to be boring and that's what I think I may find with even the tracks I dig right now.

Pure Rhythm has taken a slightly different route with the sound on this EP it would seem. Definitely more laid back then the previous 2 EPs and even the Queaver contribution lacks the hard edge we know and love. It is a decent slow burner which reminded me of the TJR remix of Paul Birken's "In the Pocket" on Tonewrecker. What I find to be the stand out on this EP is the Soapespierre and Dexter track. It's got the jack I buy my records for with a little bit of quirk to compliment it. Those of you who lean towards the harder edge of the spectrum may not dig this one, but it'll cover huge middle ground audiences I think and make some club House penetration. Any cross genre appeal is good as it possibly lures more people into our folds.

Yes! This LP rocks like no other of recent times. It's solid Electro inspired by 1984 and memories of lugging around pieces of linoleum. It's not ground breaking, but it's very rare someone is able to achieve this level of quality on a sound. The only other release in recent years I can remember that came close to old school Electro perfection like this is the Dr. Break EP.

Wyndell Long was asked to master some of Martin's material and ended up taking a shine to it. This digital LP was the result of that, and presumably the EP of Martin's I mentioned last week as well.

I see why Wyndell and Mike are doing remixes of Martin's stuff. It has a late 90's 'their sort of techno' feel to it. On this LP I really dug 3 of the tracks and would have preferred them to be on vinyl instead of being digital, but that's life.

I was given a heads up on this set by Sebastian over at MonoMental. He tells me that Tobias recorded this set at home as promotional material before this year's Glade festival.

As is usual for Toby there is a wide variety of sounds and ideas spread throughout the hour, but my favorites in this one --aside from 'take thatt' and the Sugar Experiment Station track-- are the more broken beat bustoids and the stabby number at 44 minutes. Rockin'!

adam_x.jpegIf Adam still laid out beat-downs like this one the world would probably be a better place.

This set is an excellent example of what a Techno set should be. From the jacking and shifty Wonk of Neil Landstrumm and early Circuit Breaker (Richie Hawtin) blasts of 909 and distortion to the more subdued offbeat stabs and low end of Mole People. Variety means more than just changing your underwear twice a week.

cris.jpgThis is a Dj Set played by Cristian Vogel on a Berlin radio show in April of 1998. Apparently it was ripped from cassette by the person behind the Sun Bathing Lizard blog. So because it was ripped from tape which was recorded from the radio don't expect super duper quality on this one. I bumped it up to stereo from the original mono which helps a bit, but you're still going to have to appreciate it for nostalgia's sake.

Check the set for things by Gene Farris on Relief, Cari Lekebusch on Trainspotter's Night and count off your disco dance steps to Tobias Von Hofsten.

Originally released in 2002 this is something that's been around a while already. Deejay seems to have dug up some copies though and since FitM wasn't around yet in 2002 to post it, I figured I'd add it now to increase the breadth of the archives. I'll probably be doing more of that soon. I'll pick some of the more well known artists and labels and just start adding it all in.

This EP from Marcin is probably one of the last he did in this style. I think most, if not all of you, know that he's been doing more minimal styled stuff lately on Mobilee and remixes all over the place. I haven't found any of that stuff that I've been able to get into, but Marcin's earlier catalog was all good in my books.

Bleep 127 is the result of another dig. I've run out of room on my shelves so I had to 'archive' some vinyl. In the process of putting some stuff away for an undetermined amount of time I came across some stuff I wanted to play. Naturally. It's very hard to dig through and not want to jam immediately afterwords.

Next week Bleep 128 is a broken beat treat. from Si Begg to Sueme, The Dexorcist to the ridiculous.

London's leading low-end acid engineer cranks up the bass and tweaks the bleeps on his stunning 6 track debut EP for WIDE Records. Fusing old skool electro, breaks, jungle and dubstep, this is Shinra's hotly tipped follow up to his appearance on the "WIDE Records Presents..." compilation and subsequent remixes for DJ Cutlass Supreme & Paul Blackford. The EP is accompanied by the Pain Struck Stanley Dumb remix, played by Dave Clarke on his White Noise radio show, and the
inspired "Space Journey" remix by the almighty Vadz from Russia.

There's no need for me to ramble, the official write up covers it well enough. You got your old school Electro and your Acid blips all fused together like it was meant to be like that. Great stuff.

When it came out this EP was originally meant to help with a fund for 9/11. I've no idea if that is what it did end up doing or if at this late point in the game it still is. Regardless, a couple good tracks are always welcome.

Bleep Radio is only an Archive download this week. no live stream. I know it's not a huge number of you that tune it for the Live Broadcast, but my job takes precedence and tonight I have to go in early.

Cain was a guest way back in August of 2006. Ever since then he's had the offer of doing another show, but it wasn't until just this month he was finally able to tear himself away from his busy life in Malta to record something new. For the last few years now Malta's Techno scene has been eating up the skew-whiff Techno like an unhealthy addiction and Cain --amongst others-- has been doing his best to help further that into something even more.

Veto says:
Austrian label Minimal Soul team up with fellow Austrians Pomelo to follow up their successful first release 'School of riddim'...For Minimal Soul, electronic music legend Orlando Voorn contributes an absolute corker of a track, he takes himself back to his electro/techno roots and comes up with 'Slam' - undoubtedly his strongest track for some time. Black Dog doesn't disappoint either, his remix is a study in restraint, and its simple relaxed melody lifts the track into classic territory. On the 'Pomelo side' relative newcomer Lodig obviously has his work cut out, but doesn't let the credentials of the producers that have gone before put him off his stroke! He comes up with a slightly more gnarly techno cut, not exactly heavy, but with that extra bit of dirt that is very satisfying after the clean cut techno funk of the previous two cuts. He then slips into his slightly better known guise of Lok44 to round off the EP nicely with a warm and bleepy minimal techno roller of a remix. Great EP all round!

I say it's a damn fine EP as well, but primarily for the tracks that bookend it. A1 and B2 are what steal the show with their raw appeal. B2 gets special note from me. it's going to be one of those songs that sneaks under the radar of most, but it's rhythmic perfection is undeniable!

The end of another Summer here doesn't really mark any momentous FitM occasion. There may be an increase in content soon, but that's only because as the weather gets colder, I'll be going outside less.

Plans for the (near) future here include Bleep Radio episodes featuring Leon Segka (October), Cain (this week) as well as a new Electro show, a Luke's Anger spotlight, and some guest mixes from listeners who are able to slap em together as well.

For those of you who're in the London area you may (or may not!) be glad to hear I'll be in your neck of the woods in October. I'll be on Holiday with my wife, but on my final night in the city I'll be hooking up with Mustard Gunn at one of his Coin Operated parties.

Trevor Wilkes is over from Canada [...] so we thought we would throw a huge rave!!!! Feat coin op & ugly djz, Micheal Forshaw, 3D!t, Jerome Hill, Blackmass Plastics, Warlock, JE5, spaceface and more. [October 18th]
